Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr is set to make her acting debut, joining the ranks of pop stars crossing over into Nollywood. The 22-year-old Grammy-nominated artist will appear in the Prime Video original film *Christmas In Lagos*.
The romantic comedy features a star-studded cast, including Teniola A. Aladese, Shalom C. Obiago, Rayxia Ojo, Shaffy Bello, and Adekunle Gold. The storyline centers on Fiyin (played by Aladese), who is convinced that her best friend Elo (played by Obiago) is her true love after a recent heartbreak.
Directed by Jadesola Osiberu and filmed in Lagos, the movie marks Ayra Starr's first foray into acting. Speaking to Variety, Osiberu praised Ayra Starr, saying, "For me, Ayra Starr represents what it means to be young and female and daring and brave and fearless – just being yourself. She was on the list from day one."
The film also features cameos from other musicians like Wurld and Liya, with a soundtrack that includes songs by Sunny Ade, Flavour, D’banj, and more.
