Asake credits Wizkid as inspiration, expresses longtime desire to collaborate

Afrobeats singer Ahmed Ololade, widely known as Asake, has shared that Grammy-winning artist Wizkid has been a significant inspiration in his music career. Asake expressed his admiration for the “Ojuelegba” singer while celebrating their collaboration on his newly released third studio album, Lungu Boy.

Speaking about their joint track, “MMS,” Asake revealed that he has long been eager to work with Wizkid. On the digital streaming platforms where the song is featured, he wrote, “It’s no secret that Wizkid is one of my music inspirations. As a young, striving artist in Lagos, I’ve been waiting for the right song, so when the opportunity came, it was a no-brainer.”

Asake also explained the meaning behind the song’s title, saying, “‘MMS’ stands for ‘Mr Money Sound,’ and it reflects my music journey.”
