Nigerian singer Asake has surpassed his colleague Omah Lay's record on the music streaming app Spotify with his latest single, 'Active.'
Asake's 'Active' produced by Nigerian producer and DJ, Sarz, went on to dethrone colleague Omah Lay by becoming the biggest debut for an Afrobeats song in Spotify history after it racked up 1.56 million streams on the first day and was #108 on the global Spotify chart. Omah Lay & Justin Bieber's 'Attention' formerly held the record after the song racked up 1.53 million on its first day when it was released in 2022. The two-year reign was finally halted yesterday, August 7, 2024.
Meanwhile, Asake is dropping his third studio album, Lungu Boy today. The project features Wizkid, Stormzy, Travis Scott and many more.
