Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta insists his team will continue pushing for victories, despite their Premier League title hopes fading.
The Gunners are now 15 points behind league leaders Liverpool after a 1-1 draw with Manchester United on Sunday. It marked their third straight Premier League game without a win, a setback for a team that has finished as runners-up to Manchester City for two seasons in a row.
However, Arsenal remains in strong form in the Champions League, having thrashed PSV Eindhoven 7-1 in their first-leg clash last week. They will host the Dutch side on Wednesday, aiming to secure a place in the quarter-finals.
Speaking ahead of the match, Arteta reaffirmed his team’s commitment to competing at the highest level.
“We will keep fighting to win every game,” he said. “That’s the standard we set for ourselves. This club demands excellence, and our focus is on constant improvement. My job is to provide the players with everything they need to perform.”
Despite injuries to key forwards Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz, Arsenal had six different goal scorers in their dominant win over PSV. If they advance, they will face the winner of the Real Madrid vs. Atletico Madrid tie in the next round.
Arsenal has not won a major trophy since their 2020 FA Cup triumph but hopes to change that this season.
