Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has come out swinging in support of Apostle Johnson Suleman, the general overseer of Omega Fire Ministries.
This comes after Halima Abubakar’s public apology for defamatory comments she made against the clergyman.
Halima had accused Suleman of having a romantic affair with her—a claim that stirred controversy in 2022, alongside allegations from other Nollywood actresses, including Okorie, Georgina Onuoha, Queen Nwokoye, and more. The accusations reached a boiling point in 2023 when Halima further claimed she had been pregnant for the cleric three times.
The legal drama culminated in April when a federal high court in Abuja ruled that Halima’s statements were defamatory, ordering her to pay N10 million in damages to Suleman. Recently, Halima broke her silence with a public apology, acknowledging that her claims were “false and hurtful” and seeking forgiveness from Suleman and his family.
Despite her apology, Suleman made it clear that the damage had been done. “Her apology won’t erase the painful memories,” he responded.
Angela Okorie, however, isn't letting the issue rest. Taking to Instagram, she pledged her unwavering support for Suleman, who she referred to as “my father.” In her post, she suggested that more apologies would soon follow from those who had falsely accused the cleric. “Dem never start to apologise. My father, Apostle John Suleman. God will continue to expose them,” she wrote.
This saga has also entangled the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), which suspended Halima from Nollywood for “professional misconduct.” In retaliation, Halima is now demanding N3 billion in damages from the guild, citing the suspension as unfair.
It’s a tangled web of accusations, apologies, and legal battles—with no sign of slowing down anytime soon.
