Carlo Ancelotti has decided to leave Real Madrid at the end of this season, despite being contracted until 2026.
According to a report by Radioestadio Noche on Onda Cero, the veteran Italian coach plans to step away even if the team wins trophies or the club tries to convince him to stay.
Ancelotti, who renewed his contract in December 2023 amid speculation about his future, has achieved remarkable success during his second stint with Real Madrid. His achievements include two La Liga titles, two UEFA Champions League trophies, a Copa del Rey, Super Cups of Spain and Europe, and a FIFA Club World Cup.
The coach’s earlier renewal surprised many, as there were strong rumors linking him to the Brazilian national team. The Brazilian Football Federation had reportedly delayed appointing a new manager in hopes of securing Ancelotti. Despite this, he signed an extension with Real Madrid, leading the team to a historic double in June 2024.
Now, sources close to the coach say he is certain about his decision to leave. As quoted in the report:
“‘Even if the season ends with titles and the club insists on fulfilling the contract, I want to close my stage at Real Madrid this summer,’ sources close to the coach shared.”
Ancelotti’s legacy with Real Madrid includes leading the team to their historic “La Décima” Champions League title in 2014 during his first tenure.
Despite the successes, it appears the coach is ready to move on from the club this summer.
