Nigerian striker Akor Adams has completed a €5.5m transfer from French club Montpellier to Spanish La Liga side Sevilla.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the move on Saturday via X, stating, “Exclusive story confirmed: Akor Adams joins Sevilla from Montpellier on €5.5m deal. He’s just landed in Spain with his agent.”
Adams, 24, struggled at Montpellier this season, scoring only three goals and providing one assist in over 12 appearances. This was a notable decline from his debut season in France, where he netted seven goals after joining from Norwegian club Lillestrøm.
The former Flying Eagles striker’s arrival at Sevilla may affect the playing time of fellow Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho, who has not featured for the club in over a month.
Sevilla recently suffered a 4-1 loss to second-division side Almeria in the Copa del Rey and are currently 11th in La Liga, with 26 points from 20 matches—just seven points above the relegation zone. The club hopes Adams can regain his scoring form and boost their performance in the second half of the season.
