Nigerian singer, Davido says that the increasing global recognition of Afrobeats can lead to generational wealth for artistes.
Speaking at a panel discussion organized by Hiptv, in collaboration with the United States Advisory Council on Africa Diaspora Engagement and Leaders in Nigeria's Creative Industries, Davido emphasized the immense potential of Afrobeats.
He noted progress of Afrobeats artistes, stating that they now sell out tickets at the same rate as international pop and hip-hop stars like Drake.
Davido emphasized that a single successful Afrobeats song can transform an artist's life and create a lasting legacy. "Afrobeats artists are now selling the same tickets as Drake. One song as an Afrobeats artist can change your generation," he exclaimed.
Davido also encouraged young artists to focus on collaborating with fellow Nigerian creatives rather than solely pursuing international features. He stressed the importance of unity and supporting one another, saying, "When you collaborate with your friends, they put their all in it." By promoting intra-industry collaboration, Davido believes that Afrobeats artists can continue to thrive and create a lasting impact on the global music scene.
