Afrobeats star Davido has adviced African-Americans against relocating to Africa in response to Donald Trump’s re-election as U.S. President.
Speaking on the Big Homies House podcast, the singer, whose real name is David Adeleke, cautioned that Africa is currently facing significant challenges, particularly economic issues.
“It’s not cool back home. The economy now is in shambles,” he said.
Davido clarified that his comments were not meant to paint Africa in a negative light. Instead, he emphasized his dedication to promoting the continent through his music.
He also noted that Africa’s entertainment industry is creating a “smokescreen” that makes the region appear better than it currently is.
