Moses Simon and Samuel Chukwueze were among the first players to join the Super Eagles’ camp in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, on Monday. They arrived ahead of preparations for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Benin Republic.

Six other players—Amas Obasogie, Raphael Onyedika, Frank Onyeka, Bruno Onyemaechi, Gabriel Osho, and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru—also reached the camp on Monday, according to the Super Eagles' Media Officer. More players are expected by Tuesday.

Captain William Ekong, Ademola Lookman, reigning African Player of the Year Victor Osimhen, and 19 other players were called up for these qualifiers.

The Super Eagles opened their camp on Monday for their Thursday match against the Benin Republic at the Stade Felix-Houphouet-Boigny. After that, they’ll travel to Uyo to face Rwanda at Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Monday.

Nigeria currently leads Group D and can secure a spot in the AFCON tournament by securing at least one point against Benin, which would put them at 11 points. Only Rwanda has a chance to match Nigeria’s points total.

The Super Eagles have seven goals scored and none conceded, benefiting from three awarded points and goals from a previous match against Libya, which was canceled. Rwanda enters the last two matches with a goal deficit and five points.
