The Libya Football Federation (LFF) is making serious preparations for the 2025 AFCON qualifying matches against Nigeria. They have appointed Nasser Al-Hadiri, their former assistant coach, to lead the national team.
Al-Hadiri replaces Serbian coach Milutin Sredojevic, who was fired after a poor start to the qualifiers earlier this month.
Abdul Hakim Al-Shalmani, the president of the LFF, said, “We have finalized everything with Al-Hadiri, who has great coaching experience. He was an assistant coach under Spaniard Javier Clemente for the Libyan team in 2014.”
A Libyan news source reported that Al-Hadiri will be assisted by Abu Bakr Al-Harak, and Misbah Shangab will serve as the goalkeeper coach. Al-Hadiri's first challenge is to revive Libya’s qualifying campaign against Nigeria. They will play the Super Eagles in Uyo on Friday, October 11, and then host the return match in Benina on Tuesday, October 15.
The Nigeria Football Federation also confirmed that Libya will play the Super Eagles at the Martyrs of Benina Stadium, which is located 19 kilometers from Benghazi, and can hold 10,000 fans.
