Actor Tony Todd, known for his powerful presence, unique voice, and iconic role in the Candyman horror series, passed away on November 6, 2024, in Los Angeles at the age of 69.
Born on December 4, 1954, in Washington, D.C., Todd began his journey in the arts in Hartford, Connecticut. He attended Hartford Public High School and trained further at the University of Connecticut and the Eugene O'Neill National Actors Theatre Institute.
Virginia Madsen, Todd’s co-star in the original Candyman movie, expressed her sadness in an emotional Instagram post, saying, "I just found out about Tony, and I don’t know what to say right now… I’ll say more about it."
Over a career spanning more than 40 years, Todd delivered memorable performances in film, television, and theater. He gained widespread fame as the lead in the Candyman series (1992–2021) and appeared as William Bludworth in the Final Destination films (2000–2025).
