Portable, ever the headline magnet, has added a fresh face to his Zeh Nation roster, Gospel Kanu, better known as Young Odumodu.
The street-hop singer revealed his latest signee via Instagram, introducing Kanu as a rising rapper who idolizes Odumodublvck. The announcement came with an underdog redemption arc. Kanu, one of nine boys recently arrested by Ogun state police at Portable’s bar, now finds himself thrust into the limelight.
“Don’t be depressed about where you just came from,” Portable preached during the unveiling. “It’s for your glory. You will never go there again. You will not go to prison again.”
In typical Portable fashion, the self-styled “wahala musician” turned the narrative on its head, reframing Kanu’s police ordeal as a stepping stone to fame. He urged fans to rally behind Young Odumodu, cementing his latest signing with a blend of street gospel and industry theatrics.
The Zazoo Zeh hitmaker, no stranger to controversy, has been entangled in legal battles of his own. Declared wanted by Ogun state police on February 18, he surrendered a day later, bagged a five-count charge—including assault—and secured a N2 million bail. Now out, he’s focused on rewriting his script, even seeking Fuji legend Pasuma’s support for a Mecca pilgrimage.
For Portable, life moves fast. One minute, he’s in handcuffs. The next, he’s building a label empire—one underdog at a time.
