Ezekiel Nathaniel set a world-leading time in the 400m and broke the African indoor record with a stunning 44.92 seconds at the Jarvis Scott Invite in Lubbock, Texas.

This makes him the first African man to run under 45 seconds indoors and the fastest 400m runner in the world this year.

The 21-year-old also ran an impressive anchor leg of 44.37 seconds for Baylor University’s men’s 4x400m relay team, finishing just behind Texas Tech.

Meanwhile, at the Tiger Paw Invitational, Kanyinosla Ajayi set a school record and achieved the second-fastest indoor 60m time for Auburn University, clocking 6.51 seconds. This ties him for fourth place on Nigeria's all-time list, alongside Davidson Ezinwa.

In the women’s 400m at the Tyson Invitational, Chioma Nwachukwu and Olympian Ella Onojuvwevwo finished first and second with personal bests of 52.25 and 52.44 seconds, respectively. Onojuvwevwo also set a personal best of 23.11 seconds in the 200m.

Other Nigerian athletes also delivered strong performances, including Alaba Akintola’s season-best 6.60 seconds in the men’s 60m and Prosper Ekporere’s personal best of 7.68 seconds in the 60m hurdles, making him the second-fastest Nigerian of all time in the event.
