May Edochie has taken legal steps against comedian Chidi Uzoma, popularly known as Baba De Baba, following his viral allegations of kidnap and attempted murder.
A few days ago, Baba De Baba sparked controversy online with a video where he accused May Edochie and her lawyer of plotting to kill him and allegedly kidnapping his son. The claims quickly gained attention, prompting a legal response.
In a statement shared on Facebook, May’s lawyer, Emeka Ugwuonye, confirmed that Baba De Baba was arrested for cyberstalking, cyberbullying, and other related offenses. Ugwuonye revealed that law enforcement had been monitoring him for two weeks before carrying out the arrest.
To apprehend the comedian, officials reportedly set up a sting operation, posing as brand representatives offering him an endorsement deal. During negotiations, Baba De Baba allegedly requested N10 million and an appearance fee. However, when he arrived to finalize the deal, authorities took him into custody.
Ugwuonye also disclosed that legal action against the comedian had been in motion since last month, with a criminal petition filed alongside two civil lawsuits—one at the Lagos High Court and another at the Abuja High Court. He added that evidence, including chat records, would be released soon.
Prior to this arrest, May Edochie had already sued Baba De Baba for defamation.
