Rema is back outside. After teasing fans for months, the Afrorave originator has finally locked in a release date for his much-anticipated single, Baby (Is It a Crime)—and yes, the Sade sample is officially cleared.

Dropping this Friday, February 7, the track flips Is It a Crime, a smooth jazz classic from Sade’s 1985 album Promise.

Rema confirmed the drop on X, posting, “Baby ( is it a crime )’ out Friday. + Official music video”, sealing the deal with a black heart emoji.

This one’s been cooking for a while. Back in November, Rema casually previewed a snippet—smoking, vibing, and letting his signature laid-back vocals float over the production. The lyrics? A flex laced with swagger:

"Baby/ Baby sunmoni/ You know say you match my steeze/ You know I’m a G/ Shawty I’mma always keep it real/ I no dey for too much whining/ Dey for too much whining."

The track follows the momentum of Heis, Rema’s sophomore album, which landed in July under Mavin Global, Jonzing World, and Interscope Records. Featuring heat like Benin Boys with Shallipopi, HEHEHE, and War Machine alongside Odumodublvck, Heis climbed to No. 7 on Billboard’s World Albums chart and bagged Rema his first-ever Grammy nod for Best Global Music Album.

For now, the countdown is on. Baby (Is It a Crime) is locked and loaded, and with the official video dropping alongside it, expect nothing less than Rema
