Cubana Chief Priest has laid bare his frustration over his long-standing inability to secure a United States visa.
Appearing on Rubbin’ Minds, the Channels TV show, the 43-year-old nightlife kingpin pulled back the curtain on a problem that’s haunted him for years. According to Cubana, it all traces back to errors made during his initial visa application—a situation that has become a permanent shadow in his bid to access America.
"Somebody filled my form when I was much younger and was trying to get into America. Some mistakes were coming up during interviews. And I think they have it on their system," he revealed. "Anytime I came, it kept popping up."
For Cubana, who thrives on high-energy social scenes and celebrity circles, being denied entry into the US feels like being locked out of an exclusive club. He dreams of soaking in the American experience, largely influenced by stories from his close friend, Davido.
“David tells me about America and the lifestyle. It is something I want to experience,” he said with palpable longing. “If I had a visa to enter Yankee today, it would be a dream come true. I hope very soon I am going to get access to get into Yankee.”
Cubana Chief Priest, a former general manager of Cubana Group, severed ties with the brand in September 2020 and launched his own venture, Club Xhrine, in Owerri, Imo State. Despite carving a niche for himself as one of the most prominent figures in Nigeria’s entertainment and nightlife industry, the US visa saga remains an unresolved chapter in his story.
For now, Cubana Chief Priest can only hope the red tape loosens, and that one day, the gates of America swing open for him. Until then, the dream of "Yankee" remains just that—a dream.
