Nollywood actor Olumide Oworu has announced his decision to enter politics, aiming to contribute to transformative changes in Nigeria. In February 2023, Oworu declared his intention to contest the Surulere Constituency 1 seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly under the Labour Party (LP) platform.
Despite his candidacy gaining attention, his name was absent from the electoral commission’s result sheet, and the seat was ultimately secured by his senior colleague, Desmond Elliot, representing the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Expressing his motivation, Oworu highlighted his desire to live and raise his family in a prosperous Nigeria, emphasizing the importance of collective engagement in national affairs. He noted the decline in various sectors and expressed his aspiration to be part of the change-makers in society.
