A transfer expert, Liam Keen, has denied reports suggesting that Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho is set to join Wolverhampton Wanderers from Sevilla this January.

Speaking on the E&S Podcast, Keen explained that although Wolves had shown interest in Iheanacho when he was at Leicester City, there are currently no ongoing talks.

“Despite the rumors of talks, we understand that Wolves are not pursuing him at the moment. However, he is a player they admired in the past,” Keen stated.

Meanwhile, Sevilla coach Garcia Pimienta has clarified that Iheanacho's absence from recent games is due to injury and not linked to transfer speculations.

“Kelechi is dealing with some discomfort, the same issue as last week. He should rejoin the team soon,” Pimienta told reporters ahead of Sevilla’s match against Valencia.

Iheanacho, who joined Sevilla on a free transfer last summer, has struggled to make an impact. In nine La Liga appearances totaling 401 minutes, he has neither scored nor provided an assist. His last game was a 45-minute outing against Celta Vigo on December 14.

Reports suggest that Sevilla is open to loaning out the 28-year-old, whose contract runs until 2026. Both Wolves and Championship side Ipswich Town are reportedly interested in securing his services before the January transfer window closes.
