Brito Sporting Club, a football team in Portugal, has officially signed 19-year-old Nigerian player Yaqub Usman-Malah.
The deal, completed on January 4, 2025, marks a significant milestone in Usman-Malah’s budding career. Before joining Brito Sporting Club, the young footballer trained at Brooke College Football Academy in the United Kingdom.
Born in Nigeria in 2006, Usman-Malah displayed exceptional talent during his time at the academy. He scored 17 goals in 32 matches and participated in 2,270 minutes of on-field play across 116 training days without any injuries.
The academy's head coach, Tomasz Wasylik, praised Usman-Malah’s professionalism, work ethic, and versatility, noting his ability to play multiple positions. Wasylik also highlighted his performances in the National School Cup, describing him as “technically sound” and “tactically adept.”
Usman-Malah’s father, Usman Malah, expressed pride in his son’s achievements. “We look forward to seeing Yaqub fulfill his potential and achieve greatness in football,” he said in a statement.
