Wolverhampton Wanderers have hired Vitor Pereira as their new head coach on an 18-month contract. The 56-year-old Portuguese coach replaces Gary O’Neil, who was sacked on December 15 after four straight losses.

Wolves are currently 19th in the Premier League and fighting to avoid relegation. Pereira, an experienced coach who has won league titles in Portugal, Greece, and China, has managed big clubs like Porto and Olympiacos.

Club Chairman Jeff Shi said:
“We are happy to have Vitor Pereira join Wolves. He is a skilled and experienced coach, and we believe he can help the team improve.”

Pereira led his first training session on Thursday and will make his Premier League debut this weekend when Wolves play Leicester City.

He said:
“It’s an honour to manage Wolves. The Premier League is one of the toughest leagues, and I’m ready to help the team reach its best.”

With the January transfer window coming up, Pereira will work with the club to strengthen the squad and improve their chances of staying in the league.
