Nigerian actress Chioma Akpotha, known for her standout role in Femi Adebayo’s Netflix hit Seven Doors, has opened up about a deeply personal issue—her family’s battle with a generational curse.
During an interview on Channels Television, Chioma shared the shocking story of her family’s troubled past. According to the actress, the curse originated from a grave injustice committed by her ancestors, who buried slaves alive. In their final moments, the victims condemned her lineage to “a cycle of premature and mysterious deaths.”
Chioma revealed that the curse was not just a whispered legend but a grim reality her family endured for decades, with young members dying untimely deaths.
Determined to break free from the dark legacy, Chioma and her father turned to persistent prayers and unwavering faith, motivated by their desire to see their family live long, fulfilling lives. “Our dream was to live long enough to hold our great-grandchildren,” she said, highlighting their commitment to overcoming the curse.
In an emotional moment, Chioma also disclosed that the curse was tied to her family’s ancestral surname, Omuka, which she ultimately chose to abandon to escape its ominous shadow.
