Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi has emerged as Fulham’s key player this season, leading the club’s Premier League goal contributions with six – three goals and three assists – in 13 appearances.
Fulham is set to host Brighton & Hove Albion at Craven Cottage today.
Iwobi achieved a milestone in his last home game, scoring his 25th Premier League goal in a 4-1 loss to Wolves. He followed it up with an assist in a 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur, where Fulham’s captain, Tom Cairney, was sent off late in the game. Fulham manager Marco Silva said after the match, “We deserved to win.”
The £22m summer signing from Everton is tied for second on Fulham’s scoring chart with Emile Smith Rowe and Harry Wilson, each netting three goals. Raúl Jiménez leads with four goals in 13 games.
Iwobi’s creative ability also stands out. His three assists place him level with Antonee Robinson, with Adama Traoré leading the assist tally at Fulham with four. Smith Rowe and Jiménez have two assists each.
Fulham, currently 10th in the Premier League, will look to Iwobi to maintain his form against Brighton. The team has a strong record against the Seagulls, winning four and drawing four of their last eight meetings.
Iwobi, who debuted in the Premier League with Arsenal in 2015, has consistently delivered across 265 appearances. He has 25 Premier League goals, eight of them for Fulham, placing him eighth among Nigerian scorers in the league’s history.
As Fulham seeks to improve their midweek record and climb the table, Iwobi’s dual role as scorer and creator will be crucial, while other players aim to boost their contributions.
