Chelsea captain Reece James is expected to remain out of action until the new year after suffering a hamstring injury.

According to a report by The Telegraph on Thursday, James’ recovery timeline is uncertain, but his return in 2024 seems unlikely.

The club has not disclosed the full details of his latest injury but emphasized that it is not a recurrence of previous issues. Chelsea has committed to providing James with both physical and emotional support during his recovery.

Head coach Enzo Maresca stressed the need to ease pressure on the 24-year-old, focusing on a gradual recovery process rather than setting strict deadlines.

Since being named captain 15 months ago, James has managed only 654 minutes on the pitch due to recurring injuries. Reflecting on his struggles, he previously shared the emotional toll of his setbacks, thanking fans for their understanding while acknowledging the negativity he faced.

In his latest message to supporters, James said, “I’m doing OK, been better and also been worse. Another challenge ahead accepted. Eventually, I’ll come out on top. Against all odds.”

Chelsea faces a hectic December with nine matches, including key Premier League games against Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur. However, the club remains focused on ensuring James’s long-term fitness instead of rushing his return.
