AC Milan's coach, Paulo Fonseca, may give Nigerian forward Samuel Chukwueze his first start in the UEFA Champions League against Slovakian club Slovan Bratislava today.
Chukwueze joined Milan from Villarreal last season but has yet to secure a regular starting spot under Fonseca, showing only glimpses of his potential.
In their Champions League opener, he was left on the bench in a 3-1 loss to Liverpool. He came on late in the 1-0 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen and helped his team avoid another loss. Against Club Brugge, he provided an assist during his 30-minute playtime in a 3-1 victory. However, he did not play in Milan's 3-1 win over Real Madrid.
On Saturday, in a goalless draw against Juventus, Chukwueze replaced Yunus Musah as a late substitute.
With a busy schedule ahead, Fonseca might rotate his squad, giving Chukwueze a chance to start. The Nigerian player will aim to impress and add to his one goal in 16 appearances this season.
