Kunle Afolayan Productions (KAP) Film & Television Academy has teamed up with the United States embassy in Nigeria to provide film training for aspiring Nigerian filmmakers.

The collaboration was unveiled at a press event held on Tuesday at the KAP Village in Ikeja, Lagos. This event also launched the third edition of the academy’s Reel Circle program, which offers film enthusiasts a chance to learn directly from industry experts.

Through a four-day workshop, the initiative will train young Nigerian filmmakers in directing and cinematography, providing them hands-on experience with guidance from top U.S. professionals. Afolayan, a celebrated filmmaker, shared that the partnership began during his recent trip to the United States.

“Our focus is on young people, but Reel Circle is open to everyone,” Afolayan said. He noted that KAP Academy has also collaborated with the French embassy and a German company, which have helped train over 10,000 youth, many of whom now work with his company.

Angel Williams, an American writer and director, and Erin Wesley, a visual artist and cinematographer, will lead the training.
