Actor and politician Desmond Elliot has spoken out following allegations questioning his sexuality, labeling them as baseless and undeserving of his attention. In an interview on TVC, Elliot stated, “It is merely an opinion someone has formed. It is unnecessary for me to confirm or deny it as long as I am making a positive impact on others.” He made his stance clear, asserting, “I am not gay.”

The controversy began when a well-known blogger included Elliot in a list of public figures allegedly involved in homosexuality, sparking widespread conversation. Elliot, now a lawmaker representing Surulere, also voiced his concerns about the influence of bloggers, urging the government to consider regulating platforms like Gistlover, which he feels often spread rumors and target personal lives. Elliot’s call for regulation reflects a broader frustration among public figures who seek to protect their reputations from what they perceive as baseless attacks.
