Asisat Oshoala has set a new record with Bay FC, her club in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), for achieving the highest number of wins by a new team in its debut season.

Bay FC, an expansion team that launched in the 2024 NWSL season, won 11 of its 26 matches, ending the regular season in 7th place with 34 points. This standing earned them a spot in the playoffs, where they’ll face the Washington Spirit on Sunday, November 10, 2024.

Oshoala, who joined Bay FC after leaving FC Barcelona, scored seven goals, ranking 13th in the league’s goal tally for the season. Bay FC, based in San Francisco, plays its home games at PayPal Park in San Jose, California, which has an 18,000-seat capacity and also serves as the home of the San Jose Earthquakes in Major League Soccer.

Bay FC’s ownership includes the investment group Sixth Street Partners and four former U.S. women’s national team players. The club was granted an expansion slot on April 4, 2023, marking it as the Bay Area's first professional women’s soccer team since the disbanded San Jose CyberRays and FC Gold Pride.
