Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, is under fire for his controversial comments about the legal challenges surrounding lifestyle influencer Bobrisky. During an appearance on The Honest Bunch podcast, hosted by Nedu Wazobia, Obi’s remarks sparked a heated online debate as he addressed the intense national focus on the crossdresser and other public figures entangled in legal drama.

Referencing ongoing controversies involving Bobrisky, Verydarkman, and institutions like the EFCC and the Nigerian Correctional Service, Obi questioned why Nigerians are so engrossed in these cases when more critical national issues demand attention. Attempting to lighten the discussion, he joked that if economic policies favored women over men, some male critics of Bobrisky might even resort to crossdressing to cope with rising costs.

“These are entertainers that should not be put into politics,” he added humorously. “If tomorrow, our government says fuel is N800 for men and N400 for women, I can tell you the number of men that will wear female dress will surprise you.”

Despite the humor, Obi’s comments ignited backlash on social media, with critics arguing that his remarks seemed to validate or overlook the severity of the allegations surrounding Bobrisky, fueling further controversy.
