Harvey Weinstein is an American former film producer and convicted sex offender. He has been diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia, a type of bone marrow cancer, while serving his sentence at Rikers Island in New York. Reports indicate that he is currently undergoing treatment.

Weinstein’s spokesperson, Juda Engelmayer, has refrained from commenting on the diagnosis, and his attorney, Arthur Aidala, has not responded to inquiries from CNN.

Craig Rothfeld, Weinstein’s prison consultant and authorized legal healthcare representative, criticized the public discourse surrounding Weinstein’s health. “It is both troubling and unacceptable that such private and confidential health matters have become a subject of public discussion. Out of respect for Mr. Weinstein’s privacy, we will offer no further comment,” Rothfeld stated.
