Ghana’s Black Stars are set to play their remaining 2025 Africa Cup of Nations home qualifiers in Nigeria, as the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has rejected their home stadium, the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
CAF's inspection team found major issues with the stadium, including poor drainage, uneven playing surfaces, and inconsistent grass cover. Other Ghanaian stadiums, such as the Cape Coast and Accra Sports Stadiums, also did not meet CAF's standards.
With no approved stadium in Ghana for the upcoming qualifiers, CAF has instructed the country to find an alternative venue outside the country for the October matches. The Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Nigeria, has emerged as a likely option due to its proximity and suitability. This stadium, which has a capacity of 30,000, is the home ground for Nigeria's Super Eagles.
Other potential venues being considered include Côte d’Ivoire’s Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny, Stade de la Paix, Cameroon’s Japoma Stadium in Douala, and Morocco’s Berkane Municipal Stadium.
