American actress and singer Selena Gomez has opened up about her inability to carry children due to health complications. The star, who battles bipolar disorder and lupus, shared that pregnancy would put both her life and the baby’s at risk.
“I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy. That was something I had to grieve for a while,” Selena revealed in a recent interview with Vanity Fair.
Despite the challenges, Selena expressed that she plans to keep her last name after marriage, stating, “I am Selena Gomez. That’s it.”
The singer, who took a break in 2015 to manage anxiety and depression caused by her lupus diagnosis, also underwent a kidney transplant in 2017. Currently dating record producer Benny Blanco, Selena was recently declared a billionaire by Bloomberg.
