Real Madrid star Rodrygo has expressed his disappointment at being left off the Ballon d’Or 30-man shortlist

.The 23-year-old Brazilian was not included in the list released by France Football’s editorial team, Ballon d’Or Ambassador Didier Drogba, and a panel of sports journalists.

In an interview with ESPN, Rodrygo said, “I was upset; I think I deserved it.”

“I don’t want to belittle the players who are there; I think they deserved it also. But I think I had a place in the 30.”

Rodrygo speculated that his versatility across various attacking positions might have contributed to his omission.

“Often, I’m just filling spaces,” he said. “Is someone missing there? Put Rodrygo in. Is someone missing on the right? Rodrygo. Is someone missing as number nine? Rodrygo. That’s it.

“It may get in my way a little, but I’m a team player.”

Unlike Rodrygo, teammates such as Vinicius Junior, Jude Bellingham, Dani Carvajal, Frederick Valverde, Antonio Rudiger, and even the now-retired Toni Kroos were all nominated.

The winner of the grand prize shall be determined and announced on the 28th of October.
