The music world is on edge. The 67th Grammy Awards are finally here, and the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles is the battleground. Tonight, the industry’s finest will fight for golden gramophones, and history will be made.

Time, Host, and How to Watch

For Nigerian fans, it's another late-night affair. The main show runs from 2:00 am to 5:30 am (Nigerian time) on Monday morning. CBS will broadcast it live, with Paramount+ and the Grammy website streaming worldwide.

South African star Trevor Noah is back as host for the fifth year straight. The comedian, fresh off his Netflix special ‘Where Was I’, is also in the running for a Grammy in the ‘Best Comedy Album’ category.

Nigerian Nominees: Afrobeats Takes the Stage

Afrobeats remains unstoppable. The Grammys’ ‘Best African Music Performance’ category, introduced in 2024, has Nigeria’s biggest names in the mix. Wizkid, Burna Boy, Davido, Yemi Alade, Asake, Lojay, and Tems are all up for the award.

Tems, in particular, is stacking her Grammy resume. She’s also nominated in the ‘Best R&B Song’ category alongside Ronald Banful for Burning. Meanwhile, Rema’s ‘Heis’ and Tems’ ‘Born In The Wild’ are up for ‘Best Global Music Album’.

The Elephants in the Room: Beyoncé vs. Taylor Swift

This year’s Album of the Year category is pure box office. Beyoncé and Taylor Swift are going head-to-head for the top prize, a battle that will send shockwaves through fan bases worldwide.

Who’s Performing?

The Grammys are nothing without their legendary performances, and this year, the lineup is elite. John Legend, Billie Eilish, Shakira, Janelle Monae, Stevie Wonder, Cynthia Erivo, Sabrina Carpenter, Raye, Brittany Howard, and more are set to grace the stage.

Other confirmed acts include Doechii, Charli XCX, Chris Martin, Brad Paisley, Teddy Swims, Lainey Wilson, St. Vincent, Benson Boone, Jacob Collier, and Herbie Hancock.

How Grammy Voting Works

Over 13,000 Recording Academy members decide who wins a Grammy. These voters—musicians, producers, songwriters, and industry professionals—can cast ballots in up to 10 categories.

However, everyone gets a say in the night’s six biggest categories:

Album of the Year

Record of the Year

Song of the Year

Best New Artist

Songwriter of the Year

Producer of the Year

California Wildfires Shake Up Grammy Events

It’s not all glitz and glam. The California wildfires have altered the usual Grammy pre-parties and after-parties. Instead, resources are being channeled into relief efforts.

The Recording Academy and MusiCares have pledged $1 million for wildfire relief, focusing on helping music professionals impacted by the crisis.

Final Word

The night is set. The stage is waiting. Will Beyoncé extend her legacy? Will Taylor Swift make history? And can Afrobeats finally bag a major win? One thing’s certain and it is that this year’s Grammys will be one for the books
