On Sunday, the “African Queen” legend dropped a bombshell, revealing that he and Annie had been separated for some time and were officially filing for divorce. The post was short but heavy: “I and Annie Macaulay have been separated for a while now and currently filed divorce. I would grant a press release soon to say my story.”
Minutes later, 2Baba threw in a curveball, claiming his Instagram account had been hacked. A sigh of relief? Not quite. Shortly after, the 49-year-old posted a video retracting the hacking claim and doubling down on his split from Annie. And then came the plot twist: he wiped the divorce post clean from his Instagram, leaving fans and followers with more questions than answers.
As expected, the move didn’t sit well with many, especially within celebrity circles.

Actress Mary Njoku wasted no time calling 2Baba out. She warned him against dragging Annie’s name through the mud, reminding him that his wife isn’t alone.
“Bro, Annie has a family o! Your sisters-in-law are many, and we’ve stayed quiet out of respect for her tough choices. But since you’ve decided to humiliate her at her lowest, no wahala,” she fired on Instagram. “Just make sure she’s healthy and okay because when the time comes, we’ll have plenty of questions for you.”

Media personality Toke Makinwa didn’t hold back either, criticizing 2Baba for going public with the news. She questioned the timing and tone of his announcement, warning that the truth would eventually surface.
“Nobody is asking anybody to stay in a situation that’s not serving them anymore, but why bring this online right now?” she wrote on Instagram. “The world doesn’t know anything. It’s already hectic with opinions flying around. Timing is everything, empathy is everything. You constantly preach love; you cannot add to the narrative that’s out there when you know what is really happening behind closed doors."
