Afrobeats legend 2Baba, real name Innocent Idibia, sent shockwaves across social media on Sunday when he announced his separation from wife Annie Idibia, revealing they’ve officially filed for divorce. The revelation came via a video shared on his Instagram page, where the icon bared his soul to fans.

In his words, “Hello to my beautiful people of all federations. This thing I have to say is short but also long. Annie Macaulay and I have been separated for a while and have filed for divorce.”

The unexpected announcement left fans reeling. However, the story took a wild turn hours later when another Instagram post claimed 2Baba’s account had been hacked. The singer addressed this directly, posting: “My Instagram account has been hacked. Efforts are being carried out to take back control. #onelove!”

Just as the internet began calming down, yet another bombshell dropped. In a dramatic twist, 2Baba contradicted the hacking claim, affirming the original post. “Hey, my people, nobody hacked my account; I said what I said. I come in peace.”

This chaotic sequence ignited debates online, with fans divided over the unfolding drama. Some expressed heartbreak, while others accused 2Baba of fueling confusion.

A Storied Love Crumbles
The love story of 2Baba and Annie is one for the books. The pair welcomed their first child, Isabella, in 2008, and the romantic high point came on Valentine’s Day in 2012 when 2Baba proposed to Annie. That same year, they had a private wedding before heading to Dubai for a lavish white wedding in March 2013. Their union blossomed with the birth of their second child, Olivia, in 2014.

But the cracks in their fairy tale have now come to light, leaving fans questioning what went wrong in the once-envied relationship.

What’s Next?

2Baba promised to address the situation publicly in the coming days. “I would grant a press release soon to say my story—not because it is anyone’s right to know about my personal life, but because I love my people, and I need them to know my innocence or offence. Stay blessed, my people. I love you all,” he said.

As the dust settles, one thing is certain: the Idibia saga is far from over. For now, fans can only speculate about what truly lies behind the headlines.
